New media based on blockchain. So far, companies are only exploring and experimenting the possibilities of using blockchain for different purposes. One of the more well known applications, Bitcoin, is based on blockchain. If blockchain becomes practical, it can be a way to trace information to its origins. Fake news is a major concern for daily modern lives, and blockchain can negate those concerns. For the future, it would be great if platforms can be based off of blockchain.

Blog: Wiki So Far

For our class wiki, I've contributed research involving a newly popular game, Fortnite, on the MMORPG page. I made new additions with the research I did on Fortnite. Following the previous posts on the wikipage, I gave a brief description of the game background, the gameplay, and the mechanics to the game. In addition, I provided pictures of gameplay in Fortnite as well as the different weapon choices.

Blog: P2P

P2P File Sharing is the sharing of digital media using peer to peer technology. P2P file sharing allows users to share different medias such as books, music, movies, etc. File Sharing is the practice of distributing or providing access to digital media such as electronic books.

Now, P2P Sharing has expanded beyond the conventions of media. In an article published by NPR, Google allied with Lending Club, a company that matches up borrowers and lenders outside of the traditional banking system. Everything happens online which is hassle free.

Blog: Privacy

As Daniel Reed said, any information shared on new media is no longer private. An intimate family photo meant to be shared amongst connections can be copied and spread throughout the web. The photo can then be used by other people or organizations for their own personal agenda. Due to this fact, anybody posting information onto new media should consider the weight of their actions and the consequences.

Blog: Advice

If I were hired by Baruch College, I'd use social media to promote the college. Inspired by the Facebook blog "Humans of New York", I would find Baruch students, interview them, and post on social media on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. It would help connect different Baruch students experiences and also serve to promote the college to potential candidates.

Creativity and New Media

I took an article title quote from a new media source that struck out to me, and gave it a little spin using my art skills.

Blog: Creativity

New media allows different users to market their creations on a grander scale, compared to traditional media. As reported by The New Yorker, the best-known mashup, "The Grey Album", was only possible due to new media. The mashup is a combination of vocals from Jay-Z's "The Black Album" and a reorganized version of the Beatles' "The White Album". New media has allowed new creativity such as "The Grey Album" flourish, which wouldn't be possible under old media. New media allows more freedom for creativity without having to worry about the traditional boundaries under old media.
